We have physical activity programs for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, with a focus on fundamental movement skills.

Sport and physical activity is a valued and accepted part of our school's curriculum, contributing to the development of the whole child. It provides a vehicle for social, physical, emotional and moral learning and is an important expression of our culture.

The participation, enjoyment and skill development of our students is the corner-stone of the school sport/ physical activity program. All our students take part in this program.

There are also opportunities to represent our school at inter-school sports competitions. As a NSW public school we benefit from the opportunities for shared activities and competitions with other schools, coordinated by school sport associations. See the School Sport Unit website for details.

Primary students participate in the school sports program on Friday afternoons. Students in years 3 to 6 may choose to learn basketball, volleyball,  netball, soccer, tennis, T-ball, AFL, or cricket, depending on the season.

K-1 sports programs are run each Friday morning. Yr 2 programs are run on Tuesday afternoon. The students in these grades participate in a range of developmental and pre-game activities.

Special sports programs are offered at various times during the year, as part of the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) program.

We have a dedicated gymnastics/dance program run by Moving Bodies. Cost is minimal and all students are encouraged to participate. The program is once a week for two terms of the year. This excellent program allows us to cover mandatory areas of the PDHPE syllabus utilising experts trained in this field.

The school has four sporting house groups, each designated by a different colour. Children are assigned to a sporting house in Kindergarten and all siblings belong to the same house.

STURT is Red

COOK is Green

PHILLIP is Yellow

Polo shirts in house colours are available to be worn as part of the sports uniform.

Each year students participate in sports carnivals, representing their sports house.

Swimming - Term 1 Children 8 years and over may participate in a variety of races and novelty events.

Cross country - Term 1 or 2  Held at the Castle Cove Oval. Juniors run 2kms and seniors run 3kms.

Athletics - Term 3 -  Held at Rotary Field during Term 3 for track events.

Field events are held at the school. Successful students go on to represent the school at District, Zone and State Competitions.

Parent participation is encouraged at all events.

An intensive swimming program is offered annually, during Term 4, to all children kindergarten to year 2. This program is conducted by trained swimming instructors at the Castle Cove Swim Centre.
