News » ICC concert visit for Stage 3 studentsLast updated 7:53 AM on 23 October 2016
Building the new International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour has been a major project over the last two years and it is now complete. In order to test the logistics of the centre before opening to the public in December 2016, the ICC opened its doors to students from Sydney's public schools. An opening concert showcased the musical talent that has been nurtured through the Talent Development Project, a joint venture with the DEC, which prepares students for careers in the entertainment and music industries. Alan Jones, the chair of the TDP, welcomed past graduates, including musical director, John Foreman, country singer, Felicity Urquhart, David Harris (Wicked) and Trevor Ashley (Hairspray). Delta Goodrem, and Nathan Foley (former member of Hi-5) also performed. Musical styles ranged from pop to rock, to musical theatre to opera, with several of the musical theatre stars enjoying success on Broadway. Our students pose with musical theatre stars Miriam Waks, Ashleigh Rubenanch and Stephen Madsen.
